  • Easter Escapes

Easter is officially on the horizon and that means we’re already thinking about our next escape. With four days to play with there are no end of places to jet (or train, or drive) to from cosy staycations to sun-stealing long-haul getaways.

To inspire your next trip, we’ve rounded up our top four dream destinations to book for the long weekend below and, to make things even easier, we’ve included exactly what you should pack for each too…

    Babylonstoren, South Africa

Frightened about squeezing long-haul into a long-weekend? Don’t be. With no time-difference between here and South Africa, the Western Cape is just an overnight flight away and there’s no threat of ensuing jetlag.

Stay at the old Cape Dutch Farmhouse, Babylonstoren. Rooms are dreamily designed with neutral palettes and each have epic views of the surrounding landscape. The food is properly farm-to-table with the estate’s eight-acre garden dictating the menu and you can while away the afternoons enjoying tasting trips at the local wineries that stretch for miles around or head to the luxe spa.

Should you want to call in sick and extend your holiday by a couple of nights, Cape Town waits to be discovered just one hour down the road.

    Ett Hem, Stockholm

Ett Hem’ directly translates to ‘a home’ in Swedish and this couldn’t encapsulate this house-hotel more. Just 12 rooms, the interiors are the brainchild of Ilse Crawford, founder of Studio Ilse, who designed Soho House in New York as well as Babington House, and its design is proof that cosy and luxurious can combine.

Situated in the elegant leafy district of Ostermalm, the city’s famous Old Town is just 25-minutes’ walk away and the area of Sodermalm, the equivalent of London’s Shoreditch, is a short metro ride away. There you’ll find the most buzzed-about restaurants, natural wine bars and plenty of Kardemummabullar (Swedish Cardamom Buns) to wash down with a silky-smooth coffee.

    Cap Ferret, France

Ready to dine on straight-out-the-ocean oysters and sip on the finest Bordeaux wine? Cap Ferret, on France’s south west coast, will tick every box for an ideal weekend away.

The holiday destination of choice for chic Parisians and the likes of Marion Cotillard and Audrey Tatou, rent bikes and cycle around the postcard-perfect fishing town, stopping to devour the local seafood whenever you fancy. Rest your head at the charming 11-room hotel La Maison du Bassin come evening, it’s built in an old forest house and looks out over the lighthouse. Romantic? You bet.

    Killiehuntly Farmhouse, Scotland

Situated in Cairngorms National Park, Killiehuntly Farmhouse is a Scottish getaway with a Scandinavian twist. Owned by a Danish couple the interiors of the house are understated but luxurious with a colour palette of muted greys, soft pinks and neutral tones throughout.

With 4,000 acres of its own private farmland – get ready for the crispest air and that holiday feeling of no obligations. Here it’s about farm-to-table food, stretching your legs and finally getting through that book…
