Who can resist the temptation of the sales?
The thrill of the chase; the satisfaction of securing that piece you’ve lusted after all season.
But those reductions can be all too dazzling: you hesitate and your favourites sell out; you overfill your basket and panic. Here’s how to steer your way through sales with a clear head. We promise your wardrobe will thank you.

Be strategic. Build your wishlist in your account early on (remember to add each item in your size). Then, as soon as you're confident with your choices, simply move them over to your shopping bag and – click – that sales bargain is yours.

Scrutinise your existing wardrobe: where are the gaps? Do you need a take-you-anywhere dress? A great blazer? A jumpsuit you can dress up or down? A new Breton striped top? This is the time to get your hands on it. This also sharpens your focus.

Speaking of focus – try not to be too swayed by vast discounts. Ask yourself: do I need it? Love it? Will it work with existing pieces in my wardrobe?

Shop smart and make a beeline for the classics: boyfriend jeans, a leather jacket, the perfect little black dress, cashmere sweaters, well-cut tees. You’ll always need these, regardless of the season.

Look out for transitional pieces that you can wear now and into spring/summer. That dress you’ve had your eye on – yes, it’ll look great with tights and boots, but can it carry you into spring if you wore it with bare legs and trainers

If you love it, buy it. Sometimes resistance really is futile.
