  • The UK’s Best Outdoor Screens to Watch Wimbledon

Missed out on this year’s Wimbledon ballot? Don’t fear, you don’t have to be cooped up inside watching the action on a small screen. In fact, you can be basking in the sun, clinking Pimm’s and devouring strawberries in front of one of the many outdoor screens across the UK. Here’s where we recommend...

Screen on the Green - Newcastle

Returning to Old Eldon Square, Screen on the Green creates an open-air cinema in Newcastle’s city centre. Mainly showing movie classics, this year you can also catch Summer of Sport which will kick off with the tennis.

    First Street - Manchester

Now in its fourth year, the screen at First Street is great for family viewing. If the kids find themselves bored with the mixed doubles, they can play giant Jenga or table tennis, while you enjoy a glass of chilled, quiet fizz.

    Pergola Paddington Central - London

If you choose to watch the tennis at Paddington’s Pergola, get ready to settle in for the day. Not only do they have a big screen, but you’ll also be treated to delicious cocktails, excellent food and enough room to fit 850 people. Call all of your friends.

    Bluebird Chelsea - London

A firm fixture each year at Bluebird Chelsea, you’ll be able to cheer on your favourite player from the West London hot-spot this year, too. If previous years are anything to go by, expect the venue to go all out. Last year, they installed a giant tennis ball installation and offered up huge amounts of strawberries and cream, as well as Pimm’s popsicles.

    Millennium Square - Leeds

Always guaranteed to bring the crowds, Wimbledon will once again be screened at Leeds’s Millennium Square. With grandstand and picnic bench-style seating as well as stripy deckchairs, it’s hard not to get in the spirit.

    Castle Park Colchester - Essex

The hugely popular Summer Screen will return to Colchester for its fifth year running. Usually showing hit movies rather than sporting events, Wimbledon fortnight will be live streamed during the day. Ideal if you want to catch a post-tournament film, too.

    Princesshay - Exeter

Pull up a deck chair and watch the tournaments for free in Princesshay Square. While there may not be strawberries and cream up for grabs, there's plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby who will serve up your grub, from Yo! Sushi to Byron Burger.

And if it's raining? Head to to find your nearest pub/ café/ bar showing Wimbledon indoors.
