With cool concrete interiors and beautifully decorated suites, every aspect of this chic country house is luxurious and design-led. The ten airy rooms combine calming countryside views with rustic wood furnishings and interesting objects and artwork collected from across the globe by the hotel owners, ex Londoners Tim and Hallie Robinson.

There are over 3000 vinyl records in the hotel's iconic vinyl room, for guests to browse at leisure. Take your pick down to the saltwater pool and relax with a G&T on one of the sun loungers, shaded by olive trees. The hotel also boasts a full back-catalogue of The Face magazine (founded by hotel-owner Hallie’s dad in the 1980s) and ten hectares of gardens to explore.

'A Cozinha' is the Fazenda's restaurant, cooking up a seasonal menu of local produce, often supplied by the kitchen garden and onsite orchard. Try traditional Portuguese tarts, fresh Fazenda Nova olive oil - there are hundreds of trees on the hotel grounds and the house itself was originally a farm, so Hallie and Tim farm the olives to make their own oil - or anything baked in the 200 year old bread oven!
The Owners' recommend: For dinner, order the pork and clam dish, accompanied by a bottle of Superbock!

Part of the Ria Formosa Nature reserve, the Eastern Algarve has some of the most stunning beaches and islands on the coast. Head down to Cacela Velha and Fabrica beach, or for real luxury consider booking a boat tour to the Ria Formosa Islands (lucky for our winner, this is included in the prize!). If you can drag yourself away from your sun lounger, the local market at Olhão is also worth a visit - and make sure to amble through the streets of Tavira, one of the most beautiful towns in the Algarve.
